POWDER WHITE ADDS NEW CHALETS MAURITIUS BOOSTS LUXURY CREDENTIALS
Mauritius’s luxury credentials will be further bolstered over the next year thanks to the likes of Shangri-La, Ritz-Carlton and Jumeirah. Shangri-La took over the management of Le Touessrok recently and will be relaunching it as Shangri-La Le Touessrok Resort & Spa in September next year. In December next year the five-star Ritz-Carlton Les Salines is due to open at Black River with 178 rooms – some on stilts in the bay – and a floating spa. Beachcomber has recently announced a major refurbishment to its flagship property, Royal Palm Mauritius, which will be unveiled in October. Lux Resorts has collaborated with award-winning designer, Kelly Hoppen, on the Lux Belle Mare Plage, which relaunches in September and in 2018, Jumeirah will open its first resort in Mauritius. Starwood’s The Westin Turtle Bay Resort & Spa opened in August.
GANE AND MARSHALL UNVEILS NEW TOUR
Specialist operator Gane and Marshall has unveiled a new tour to Kaokoveld, the rugged coastal desert region of northern Namibia. The six-night Namibia Fly-in Safari tour takes travellers from Windhoek to Etosha National Park for two days’ game viewing. The trip culminates in a three-night stay in the Skeleton Coast National Park at the remote Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp. A full-day flight excursion over the Skeleton Coast is included in the itinerary. The tour costs from £2,890 per person, not including
international flights.

SLS LAS VEGAS JOINS HILTON CURIO BRAND
The SLS Las Vegas Hotel & Casino opened ahead of schedule at the end of August and is one of the first hotels to form part of Hilton’s new brand Curio – A Collection by Hilton. The 1,600-room hotel and casino is owned and operated by SBE and is on the site of the former Sahara Hotel & Resort. SLS Las Vegas opened following a three-year, $415 million renovation.

Ski specialist Powder White has added three chalets in Meribel, Val d’Isere and St Anton this season. The Patrice in Meribel accommodates up to 23 people in 12 bedrooms. It is a short walk from the main square with easy access to the Doron piste. It also has a large outdoor hot tub. The Gerlinde will increase Powder White’s programme to eight chalets in St Anton, Austria. The chalet is set over several floors and has a sauna and four bedrooms. In Val d’Isere, Ananda chalet is in Laisinant, offering peace and quiet but
access to the high-speed chairlift nearby.
