An impressive line-up of well thought out and prepared costumes, including some horses in character made the 2013 fancy-dress event one of the best polo days ever.
We had the Mario brothers, starring two of the clubs more mischievous boys (our own wonderful head coach Charlie Wood and Stephen O’Kane) who took away a prize along with the impressive and realistic polo pirate Jack Sparrow complete with black bird. Spiderman, superman and jousting men in armour, they were all out in full force to compete for the craziest prize of the year. When the ball was thrown in, the cacophony of superstars tore off to goal and fought till pretty much last man standing.
The last day is always a fun day mixed with sad emotions of the season being over, goodbyes being said and the ponies going out to green pastures. This year we lucked in with a good partially sunny and warm day which ended up in a clubroom party where in the great spirit of the typical Hamite one likes to show off his or her dancing skills… well that’s how the season ended... with happy faces and I’m sure a few sore heads. All in all a great day.
