Aston Martin Day Sir David Brown Trophy by Ewan Warrender


One of the delights to be enjoyed at Ham, The London Polo Club, on last year’s calendar was the Sir David Brown Trophy Day.


Aston Martin Owners Club wished to have a celebration of the Aston Martin Centenary and decided upon a Polo Day at Ham.


It was by wonderful coincidence that it was discovered that Sir David Brown was in fact a polo player and the President of Ham Polo Club, for seven years while running and owning Aston Martin between 1947 and 1972. The Aston Martin ‘DB’ was christened after his name David Brown.


This of course cemented discussions when Ewan Warrender, the organiser, was in negotiations as it was clearly the natural place for it to take place.


The weather was exceptionally good and there was a wonderful parade of Aston’s around the ground prior to the match starting. L.K.Bennett ran a fashion show for those less interested in cars before a fine lunch prepared by the club caterers Hunt Kendall.


Dave Richard’s, the current Aston Chairman flew in by helicopter, cutting short his holiday in Cornwall to present the Trophy to the winning AMOC team.


The event raised over £10,000 for the Poppy Factory, our chosen charity based in Richmond and a good day was enjoyed by all those in attendance.


Such an enjoyable day was had by all and we look forward to having another event in the future.
