This year’s Summer Tournament league games provided some excellent entertainment and were mostly very close matches. The Gaucho Sunset Polo event benefited from having a few league games as part of the programme instead of an exhibition match and overall the spectators were impressed with how high the standard was throughout the competition.
Final - The Rosie Adams Bowl Tchogan and AES International made it through their league games to arrive at Sunday’s final. Both had been expected to do well as Tchogan’s players were strong off their handicaps and AES had performed extremely well in the league stages.
Chukka one went all in favour of Tchogan, they managed to put 3 goals up on the board whilst AES failed to score. The second chukka was almost the complete contrast as AES scored twice and conceded nothing. The 3-2 half time score however was not telling of how well the game was going; relatively few whistles had allowed for the game to flow well and remain at a consistent gallop. Castagnola and Mancini had been linking up on some good plays however Boudou and Clover had just been a little quicker.
It took Tchogan almost the whole third chukka to make the next score but after that they looked comfortable. There was an equaliser in the fourth but Boudou put his foot down and after that it was too much for AES to come back from.
Heiko Voelker’s team had last won the Rosie Adams Bowl in 2008 however he was presented with it again this year by sponsor and donor of the trophy Peter Adams of Peter Adams Agencies. Peter was not only a player at Ham for many years but also served as Co-Chairman of the committee. The winners also received bottles of Frerejean Frères Champagne, Ham’s official champagne and prize sponsor for 2013.
