MR 5.07 Dues of Theatre On Ice/ Teams members. Such dues are $50 annually. A. For Theatre On Ice/ Team membership the applicants must: 1A. Be a Theatre On Ice/ team as defined by Article V, Section 8, of the U.S. Figure Skating bylaws and agree to abide by these rules;
2. File application on the forms supplied by U.S. Figure Skating headquarters or online at

Registration application forms are included in the club registration packet sent to all clubs and are also available through U.S. Figure Skating headquarters.
B. Completed applications must be forwarded to U.S. Figure Skating headquarters, who will then issue a registration card with a team registration number.
C. The team registration fee is $50 annually. D. Clubs are permitted to register more than one team at the same level.

Qualifying Rounds and Seeding – Synchronized Skating
Synchronized qualifying rounds: A. Sectional qualifying and championship rounds: 1. Seeded qualifying rounds will be held if more than 24 teams are entered in the senior, junior, collegiate, novice, intermediate and adult levels or if more than 18 teams are entered in the juvenile and masters levels. Unseeded qualifying rounds will be held if more than 12 teams are entered in any nonqualifying levels. See rule 2852.
2. Advancement to the championship round will be per rule 2852; 3. In events with a short program (junior and senior), only the free skate shall will be skated in the qualifying round. Both the short program and the free skate shall be skated in the championship or final round, and the results will be combined.
B. National qualifying and championship rounds: 1. Qualifying rounds shall be held if more than 18 teams are entered in any event;
2. The event shall be divided into two seeded flights with the top five teams from each flight advancing to the championship round;
3. In events with a short program, only the free skate shall be skated in the qual- ifying round. Both the short program and the free skate shall be skated in the championship round, and the results will be combined.
C. If the number of entries is not evenly divisible by the number of flights required, the flights will be balanced as evenly as possible.

Seeding shall will be carried out in the following manner whenever qualifying rounds
are held: A. Teams in qualifying rounds of sectional championships shall will be seeded in a zigzag fashion from their final round placement in the same levels in the most recent U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships, sectional championship or, for those having no previous placement, by draw.
B. Seeding qualifying rounds for the U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships: 1. There must be at least two teams from each section entered in the respective level in order to seed as per rule 2853 (A);
2. Teams in qualifying rounds shall be seeded from their placement in the most recent sectional championships, provided there is competition in the respec- tive level in all sections;
3. The order of seeding shall be determined by a separate draw and posted at the first official practice session. The draw shall be carried out by the ref- eree at any convenient time after the closing of entries and in the presence of at least two judges or other officials;

For all levels and segments at synchronized skating sectional championships and the U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships junior and senior short program and free skate, each team shall will be allowed a maximum of one minute of warm-up (without music) on the competition ice surface. A. When the assistant ice referee signals, the next team to skate must enter the ice surface and stand quietly near the barrier.
B. The team is then announced, and the one minute time is reckoned from this point.
For all other levels, each team shall be allowed a maximum of one minute (without music) on the competition ice surface. For nonqualifying competitions, conduct of the warm-up is at the discretion of the referee but must be communicated to all teams pri- or to the start of their official practice session. Each team will be allowed a maximum of one minute of warm up (without music) on the competition ice surface. A.
If the team is not placed onto the ice to stand near the barrier before being an- nounced, warm up begins from the moment the first skater enters the ice surface.

STANDARDS • All elements must meet general criteria and basic requirements in order to be counted (see rule 7150).
• Other elements may be incorporated into the free skate and will be judged in the program component mark.
• Features and additional features are optional. Step sequences are permitted in non-step sequence elements and may also be used during transitions.
• Mirror image pattern is permitted in elements and transitions. • A minimum of two clearly recognizable holds are required. These holds may be done in elements or transitions.
• Syncopated choreography may be used. • Creative innovations and variations are permitted and will be reflected in the program component mark.
• For illegal and non-permitted elements, see rules 7160 and 7170.
• The team must predominantly act as one unit. Several units can be used as short transitions if the element following the transition so requires, such as preparation for an intersection. Excessive division into small groups without the reason men- tioned above is not according to the requirements.
• Transitions may be comprised of varied and/or intricate footwork, linking steps, movements, formations and other connecting elements linking all of the required elements.
