March 2013 when Woody proposed to Tiffany in Whistler, British Co- lumbia, Canada, moments after they were dropped on top of a glacier by a helicopter to snowboard. Te proposal came around the
time Tiffany had decided to go into coaching. She and Woody had been dating for about two years, but her job as the personal cabin attendant on Tom Cruise’s private jet had kept her on the go and away from home weeks at a time. “It was a great job. I traveled the
world,” said Tiffany, who said Cruise enjoyed watching videos of her skat- ing. “It was a very fast three years in my life. I needed to do something on
my own away from skating for a while. “I didn’t have to pay for any- thing. Tey put me in suites when we were away. Tey paid for my food. But it was very lonely. “I came to the place where I was
ready to teach skating,” she added. At Toyota Sports Center, Tif-
fany and Stephanie work alongside many of their lifelong friends, but she appreciates the background in Culver City. “Starting at a small rink was
really interesting,” Tiffany said. “We got to start them as babies and bring them up.” During the summer, there will be a lot of off-ice training. Tiffany, who has also dabbled in ballroom dancing, even works with a young ice dancer. “I never in my life thought I
was going to be teaching,” said Tif- fany, who earned a degree in English from the University of Maryland and has credits toward a master’s de- gree in architecture and design from UCLA. “I love teaching so much. “Our kids really have some-
thing great with Stephanie and me because we have so much love for the sport,” she continued. “It’s in our hearts. We’re also hungry to see our students succeed. We were not able to get to the Olympics. We’re passionate with our kids.” “We know we’re more powerful
as a team,” Stephanie said. Life is sweet for the Stieglers. from the skat-

ing world attended Tiffany’s bridal shower, including 1985 U.S. cham- pion Tiffany Chin, after whom she was named (mom Linda Stiegler was
watching Chin skate on TV short- ly before Tiffany’s birth). Olympic silver medalist Sasha Cohen was a bridesmaid. Watching the Opening Cer- emony of the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi provided a poignant moment when Tiffany and Johnnie’s former coach, Irina Rodnina, was the final torch bearer who lit the Olympic flame. “Sometimes when you’re a skat-
er, especially a young skater, you don’t realize really what you’re doing or how special it is to be involved with some of the people that you are,” Johnnie said. “In that moment, you see how special it was to be in- volved with what we were doing at the level we were at. To see someone who was that close to you be recog- nized was a pretty cool thing.”
