Grand Prix Series Preview ‘Ready to f ight’
Hubbell and Donohue excited about GP assignments While it was an agonizing ending to their
Olympic season, ice dancers Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue say they feel fine and are ready to fight once again for their place among the country’s elite teams. Te Detroit-based duo, who finished fourth at the 2014 U.S. Championships and barely missed earning one of nation’s the three Olympic berths, received word at the end of June that they will compete at Skate Canada and Trophée Bom- pard this fall as part of the ISU Grand Prix of Fig- ure Skating Series. “My health is finally back on track after an
extremely frustrating and painful year,” said Hub- bell, who battled a hip injury most of the 2013–14 campaign. “With the support of U.S. Figure Skat- ing and the United States Olympic Committee, I was able to get the surgery I needed. It has been four months since my surgery and I am finally skating
with no pain.” Donohue couldn’t be happier about the

team’s two Grand Prix assignments. Tis year will mark their third trip to Skate Canada, where last year they claimed the bronze medal. “We are definitely excited to start our sea- son with a competition in our comfort zone,” Donohue said. “We’ll be looking to take another step up. We are also excited to return to Trophée Bompard and to experience yet another beauti- ful French city.” While they were “devastated” to have had their training last year so adversely affected because of Hubbell’s injury, they realized how much they want to represent the U.S. at the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. “Madison’s injury taught us a lot about working ef- fectively, and we were able to build a stronger part- nership,” Donohue said. “Tese new skills were the
