ccording to AECOM, major theme parks operators around the world posted a combined attendance increase of 5.4% in 2013, with the Americas region showing a 3-4% rise. As the soccer World Cup comes to a close in Brazil, it is satisfying to report the exceptional results from both Thermas Dos Laranjais in Olimpia, some 300km northeast of Sao Paolo and 500 from Rio, and Beach Park in Aquiraz, Fortaleza. The two waterparks ranked 5th and 18th worldwide, up by 26.9% and 14.4% respectively, to 1.65 million and 964.000 guests. Piscilago in Bogota, Colombia, with a mere 0.2% increase to 1.04 million, was the only other Latin American waterpark that made the worldwide top 20, ranking 14th. Owned by the supermarket chain Colsubsidios, Piscilago is for the most visited by their own personnel, and as the property also has rooms available is not perhaps a typical waterpark. Commenting on the success of Beach Park, Thermas Dos Laranjais and Piscilago, Brian Sands,
