Biga Coaster Unique new ride system offered by Sunkid

The Biga Coaster is an interesting new ride development from the Austrian company Sunkid-Heege. Enjoyed by passengers in a

standing position, similar to

a Segway (pictured left), the attraction features scooter-like ride vehicles that travel along an undulating track The track construction allows for the tightest of radii and has endless possibilities. The first system is now in use as an added attraction on the Event Center, a walk-through tower attraction toured in Germany by the showman Martine Blume. Installed on the second floor of the structure, half of the track runs through an indoor area, the remainder 7m above the heads of fair-goers and friends/family down below – in turn attracting extra attention and potential custom for the tower. Offered as a free optional extra called Sky Drive, most visitors to the Event Center choose to take part.

As well as its various German engagements, the

attraction will be appearing this month at the large Tilburg Kermis (fair) in the Netherlands. In the meantime you can see a YouTube video of the system ion in action (it’s faster than you might think) via the weblink listed below.

Sunkid-Heege stresses this is just one of many possible indoor and outdoor uses for the Giga- Coaster. Other potential applications include viewing platforms, museum tours and dark rides. Riders must be at least seven years of age and 1.2 metres tall to enjoy the attraction, however, the riding position need not be restricted to a standing position and all manner of superstructures are possible including seated vehicles or full trains, allowing for larger capacity. “Since the launch of the Biga-Coaster this

spring, we have got serious requests from all over the world,” says Sunkid-Heege’s Hannes Koschuta. “However this isn’t an ‘off-the-peg’ attraction and so we need time to customise each installation for the client. We will keep you updated!”

Party with Gosetto This fun new ride from Gosetto offers “something new, something modern and something different for the whole family” according to the Italian manufacturer. The 16-seat attraction comprises eight arms that rotate and spin around a central column. As the column moves up and down, the twin seats suspended below the arms can then be rotated through 360° by the passengers using a joystick, or with a pre-programmed controller. Offering several different speeds, rotations and start/stop movements,

Party Dance offers a spectacular show for both riders and onlookers. Think of it as an interactive mini wave swinger with spinning cars. See a video on Gosetto’s website or by reading this article online. gosetto.com

Baboon Lagoon Ohio’s Columbus Zoo and

Aquarium has added a $4.5 million custom-themed AquaPlay RainFortress from WhiteWater to its Zoombezi Bay waterpark. Baboon Lagoon features 16 life-sized baboons and a sprawling octopus figure surrounded in a heated pool by over 90 interactive water elements, nine waterslides and a 1,000-gallon tipping bucket.

The Battle of Mutiny Bay

New York’s Splish Splash Waterpark, Calverton, has debuted The Battle of Mutiny Bay. This all-new interactive water attraction from Preston & Barbieri takes bathers and their fearless crew on a soggy voyage. The passengers inside the boats utilise their water cannons to shoot against the other vehicles and against those people standing around the circuit. Both landlubbers and salty sea dogs will want to be part of the action.
