SFX Coaster New from Dynamic Attractions

last month by Dynamic Attractions. The SFX Coaster combines a vertical drop, see-saw up and down and slide sideways together with perfectly synchronized with highly advanced media. Just think of the possibilities. “Thrill-seekers want more than just a train on a track,” states Dynamic Attractions president Peter Schnabel. “We’ve combined spectacular storytelling and eye-popping special effects with the most technically advanced ride. This has the amusement industry’s top draws – dark rides and rollercoasters – in one unbelievable experience. It is the first of its kind in an entirely new category of rides.”

An innovative new ride system featuring four engineering advances that have never before been available together on one attraction was launched

Those SFX Coaster technologies in full include the Gyro Table, where both the ride vehicle and the section of track below it rotate through 360° while rocking up and down. Side-Slide sees the vehicle drop perpendicular to the direction of travel, Track Drop makes riders feel as it the vehicle free falls and lifts up again, while Tilt & Drop tilts up and down like a see-saw or teeter totter.

No place like Dome

The Austrian company Attraktion has partnered with Intamin to develop a media-based experience called the Dome Ride Theater. The patent- pending attraction features a steel ride structure combined with state-of-the-art full sphere projection, immersing audiences into “a unique themed environment and a different place and time.” The first unit has already been sold and will debut late 2015 at Lewa Wonderland, a new park being developed in the Chinese city of Xian by real estate developer Lewa Investment. domeride.com

Years of research and development have gone into creating the new system, which Schnabel says is “years ahead of the industry”. Given the Canadian firm’s track record with other attractions such as its Flying Theatre (Soarin’), Immersive Transporter (King Kong 360 3D) and various ‘Wizarding’ rides, he could just be right. The first SFX Coaster is currently being built. The site will be announced later this year; all we can tell you is that it’s a very high-profile amusement park somewhere in the world. Does that narrow it down enough for you?
