HANK YOU, EVERYONE, FOR THE KIND BIRTHDAY WISHES YOU HAVE SENT TO TSCRA on behalf of The Cattleman magazine. We appreciate your support in our special birthday advertising section, and we enjoyed sharing

birthday cake with you at the Cattle Raisers Convention in April. This milestone wouldn’t be possible without the active and vocal support

of our members, readers and advertisers. The longevity of The Cattleman magazine is also due to the remarkable work of the staff members who came before us. This 100th anniversary is certainly a cumulative achievement. In honor of our 100th anniversary, we asked artist Teal Blake to provide

us with a painting that we could print to fold out to something larger. Like so many of our covers that have been graciously provided to us by fi ne artists and photographers over the decades, this image is timeless — rider on horseback among good cattle. Special thanks go to the advertisers who specifi cally participated in this grand cover — Priefert Manufacturing, DuPont Crop Sciences and 44 Farms. Inside this issue is the same great content that has sustained The Cattle-

man for 100 years. The 20 pages covering the Cattle Raisers Convention have reminded me why my feet hurt so much when we got home from the convention in San Antonio. We’ve run as many photos as we could in the print publication and published many more in The Cattleman Plus, our tablet app. In our features section, Carol Hutchison takes a look at a perennial

problem in ranching in a study of a cattle theft case that could happen to any rancher. Be sure to note the special advertising in this issue on equipment. Now

here is an area where things have changed a bit in a century — digital weigh scales, power tree saws, better steel pipe and fencing and more. From June 1914 until now, TSCRA has been proud to provide The

Cattleman magazine as the business journal of the southwestern cattle industry. I wonder what the next 100 years will bring?
