Cattle Raisers Honor Excellence
Hill County Assistant DA Honored as TSCRA Prosecutor of the Year Nicole Crain has been named the Texas and
Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) Prosecutor of the Year for her commitment to pros- ecuting livestock theft and related crimes. Crain was honored at the association’s 137th annual conven- tion in San Antonio. Crain serves as the assistant district attorney
in Hill County. She was chosen for the award from a pool of fi nalists nominated by TSCRA special rangers. TSCRA Special Ranger Marvin Wills nominated
Crain for the award for her work on the case against Terry Shawn Linville. In May of 2010, Linville stole fi ve head of cattle
from a rancher in Johnson County, then turned around and sold them at the Hubbard Livestock Auction in Hill County. Crain was appointed to the case. Wills says she
did an excellent job prosecuting during the week- long trial, which resulted in a guilty verdict and a 15-year sentence for Linville. “Due to the persistence and timeless hours she
spent on this case, Texans saw justice served,” says Wills. “She helped us send a message that cattle theft will not be tolerated in Texas.”
