This year’s outstanding nominees have played leading roles throughout their careers in preventive health medicine, agricultural policy, rotational grazing, bo- vine reproduction and milk quality. James Henderson and John Bellinger were honored at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) Intercollegiate Meats Judging Con-


test Awards Breakfast for their years of service with the contest. Henderson and Bellinger were instrumental in starting the HLSR Inter-


collegiate Meats Contest at HLSR 35 years ago. Henderson served as its superintendent for 32 years. Henderson is an owner of Bradley 3 Ranch, Memphis and Clarendon,


and works as the ranch’s operations and genetic manager. Bellinger owns Food Safety Net Laboratories and Agri-West Exporters, San Antonio.


Eddie Sims, Elgin, Okla., has been inducted into the Oklahoma Angus Association Hall of Fame.


Offi cials of the Kentucky State Fair Board have announced that the 2014 Saddle & Sirloin Portrait Gallery inductee is Minnie Lou Bradley, Bradley


3 Ranch, Childress. This honor is bestowed by the Saddle and Sirloin award committee based on service to and impact on the livestock industry. The portrait gallery is the livestock industry’s hall of fame and is housed at the Kentucky Exposition Center. Bradley has been honored as a Master Breeder by Oklahoma State


University and is one the nation’s Top 50 U.S. Beef Industry Leaders, ac- cording to BEEF magazine. In 2013 the ranch was recognized by the Beef Improvement Federation’s Seedstock Producer of the Year Award. The Saddle & Sirloin portrait presentation will take place on November


16 at the 41st annual North American International Livestock Exposition. The expo, which is held annually at the Kentucky Exposition Center, is scheduled for November 9-21.

Five of the most elite cattle pro- ducers and Brangus breeders


were honored by the Internation- al Brangus Breeders Associa- tion (IBBA) for their outstanding achievements and their contribu- tions to the Brangus breed and the beef cattle industry. Two Pio- neer Awards, which recognize IBBA members, past or present, for service, loyalty and contribu- tions to the Brangus breed, were presented to David Vaughan, Fairmount, Ga., and posthumous- ly to past IBBA Executive Direc- tor Jerry Morrow. Two members were recognized as Brangus Breeder of the Year: Steve Dens- more, Circle X Ranch, Bryan; and Mike Coggins, Blackwater Cattle Company in Lake Park, Ga. The Commercial Producer of the Year award went to Russell Trefney, Weimar.


Santa Gertrudis Breeders In- ternational (SGBI) Executive


Director John Ford announced the addition of Darren Richmond to the SGBI staff as mem- ber services fi eld repre- sentative. He will represent SGBI and the offi cial breed publication Santa Gertrudis USA at industry functions and activi- ties.
