Shibutanis attend ‘Right To Play’ Ball Right To Play, a global organization that uses

Logan Giulietti-Schmitt, the 2012 U.S. pewter medalists, have announced their retirement from competitive skating af- ter eight years together. Kriengkrairut and Giulietti-Schmitt


are the 2007 U.S. junior bronze medalists and twice won the Ice Challenge in Graz, Austria. They competed four times in the Grand Prix Series and finished sixth at the 2014 Four Continents Champion- ships.


The duo trained in Ann Arbor, Mich.,


for seven years under the direction of Yasa Nechaeva and Yuri Chesnichenko before moving to nearby Novi, Mich., to work with Igor Shpilband in February 2013.

ti-Schmitt will pursue higher education, with Kriengkrairut applying to medical school and Giulietti-Schmitt hoping to obtain a graduate degree in environ- mental remediation or urban planning.


Hawayek and Baker honored by lawmakers Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker, the U.S. junior champions, were


honored by the New York State (NYS) Senate and Assembly on April 29 with a legislative resolution. The Detroit Skating Club-based duo was announced on the floor of the


NYS Senate and Assembly before being presented with a citation and a reso- lution recognizing the win at the World Junior Championships in March. Hawayek (East Aurora, N.Y.) and Baker (Edmonds, Wash.) were present


in the NYS Senate chambers while the resolution was read in its entirety and then voted on. They then received a private tour of the capitol building.
