Brown, Cain to visit Bay Area for S.T.A.R.S. event

Olympian Jason Brown and international medalist Ashley Cain, the top athletes from the 2013 S.T.A.R.S. combines, will visit the Bay Area on Sunday, June 29, to assist athletes with S.T.A.R.S. test- ing and share their training expertise. Redwood City, Calif., earned this opportunity as the city that

registered the most participants for the 2014 S.T.A.R.S. combine season. Space is still available but is limited; if you want to come see Brown and Cain and participate in the S.T.A.R.S. testing, sign up today at www.STARScombine.org. Rochester, Minn., fi nished a close second in the registration

contest. Brown will send each of the athletes who participate in Rochester an autographed photo to recognize their enthusiasm for athletic performance. T e 2014 S.T.A.R.S. season started with a bang in Hyan- nis, Mass., held in conjunction with the U.S. Adult Figure

Skating Championships. Participation more than doubled from last year with an enthusiastic group of adult and young athletes jumping, stretching, sprinting and balancing their way through the 15 S.T.A.R.S. tests. T e S.T.A.R.S. circuit also stopped at Program Com-

ponents Camp, where registration numbers also more than doubled from 2013. Parents, athletes and coaches enjoyed the engaging seminar on “Recovery Nutrition and Competition Day Fueling” that is being presented at all 23 S.T.A.R.S. locations this season. Synchronized skating teams also had S.T.A.R.S. fe-

ver, with a huge combine at Miami of Ohio University in Oxford, Ohio, held in April. Other cities with strong synchronized skating cultures are on the S.T.A.R.S. schedule this summer, including Boston, St. Louis and Orlando, Fla. where the fi rst U.S. Figure Skating elite synchronized skating camp will take place. S.T.A.R.S. registration is still open for many of

the remaining cities. If you are interested in fi nding out more about your athletic skills and how they can help you on the ice, sign up today.
