Life on the farm enchanted Frank Dean Lucas, who, at age 5, enjoyed helping his father by trailing the family’s cows into the milk lot to be milked. Lucas learned early on that farming was possible through teamwork. His mother spent hours scraping and cleaning all the dairy equipment used on the farm, a laborious task. On the open, fl at fi elds of his family’s farmland, Lucas learned the diligence of farm work.
