CALIBRE UK/KRAMER ELECTRONICS

Kramer Electronics and Calibre UK are merging their product lines in a global joint sales, supply, development and business co-operation agreement, with Calibre models, such as its premium scalers, being incorporated into Kramer’s product lines. The companies say they will work together to accelerate Calibre’s future product developments and plan to roll out a comprehensive range of video processing, routing and control products. Calibre chairman Tim

Brooksbank will head this effort in Kramer as well as maintaining his Calibre role: “Having just passed our 25-year anniversary at Calibre, this co-operation with Kramer marks an exciting start to our next quarter century. We will continue independently with our OEM and

own-label business activities, but with Calibre-branded products being progressively merged into the Kramer range. This opens up access to a far wider market for our products and helps Kramer strengthen its presence in its premium markets.” “This strategic co-operation with Calibre is of great benefit to both companies and to our customers alike,” added Dr Joseph Kramer, founder, president & chairman of Kramer Electronics and recent recipient of the 2013 Pioneer of AV Award. “Together we will move forward developing a comprehensive range of powerful premium video processing and control products for the live events, rental, staging and fixed install markets with a focus on class-leading visual and functional performance. There are exciting times ahead.”

Microphones to auto: The Dugan-VN16 plug-in card for Avid’s digital mixers

Plugged in to automatic mixing DAN DUGAN SOUND DESIGN

THE seamless auto-mixing technology invented by Dan Dugan is now available in audio mixers from Yamaha, Avid and Waves Audio.

The Dugan-MY16 card for a

wide variety of Yamaha mixers provides up to 16 channels of automatic microphone mixing per card at 48kHz or eight channels at 96kHz. Channels can be partitioned into as many as three

independent automixers. It includes Windows or Mac software for virtual remote control over a local network. The Dugan-VN16 for Avid Venue console manages multiple live microphones to keep gain consistent throughout the system. It offers 16 automixing channels or eight auto-mixing channels plus eight channels of ADAT I/O, and may be linked with up to seven other Dugans to expand the number of microphones in the

system. It is operated from the Dugan Control Panel for Java (included) or a separate iPad app. Waves Audio’s newly

introduced Dugan Automatic Mixer plug-in is a software emulation of the popular Dugan Speech System for managing multiple live microphones. It is Waves MultiRack SoundGrid- and MultiRack Native- compatible and works on 32 or 64 channels. Stand: 9-G144

App for mobile quoting D-TOOLS

Demonstrating a new iOS- based iPad companion app for its flagship product, SIX 2013, will be systems integration software company D-Tools. Available this quarter for partners worldwide, this new release adds mobile quoting capabilities that enable commercial and residential AV integrators to generate quotes natively on an iPad, then bring them into SIX 2013 for further project design and management.

A native iOS application, the

D-Tools iPad app leverages D-Tools’ extensive manufacturer product library by enabling integrators to access

and integrate product category and package data from the SIX 2013 catalogue while working with customers in the field. Integrators can enter client and contact information into the iPad app, then walk prospective customers through available installation scenarios in order to create a quote for approval. Once complete, the resulting quote can be imported into SIX 2013 for additional design work and synchronisation. The iPad app utilises many of

D-Tools’ workflow concepts, including the specification of locations and systems, allowing integrators to provide packages or pre-configured systems for inclusion in the quote. Stand: 1-N53
