PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CEDIA EXAMS AND REVISION COURSES –THURSDAY 6 FEBRUARY 2014

On Thursday 6 February at ISE 2014, CEDIA is running exams, preceded by revision sessions, for three of its qualifications. The sessions all begin at 10:00 and are priced at €300 for CEDIA members, €450 for non-members. CEDIA Professional Certification delivers benefits to individuals, consumers, integration companies and manufacturers by establishing objective standards for the required skills and knowledge of electronics system designers and installers. CEDIA Professional Certification promotes professionalism and growth throughout the industry by defining benchmarks for designers and installers.

QUALIFICATIONS The qualifications being examined are: • CEDIA EST2: the baseline technical

certification suitable for anyone with a technical role within residential integrated technology design and installation. It is the first step within a structured certification path offered by CEDIA. • CEDIA ESD1: this is for people who wish to become system designers. • CEDIA Residential Networking Specialist: this is an individual who has mastery of the fundamentals, as defined by CEDIA, of designing, installing and configuring a network in the home. It is

recommended that industry professionals pass the CEDIA EST2 certification before sitting for the Residential Networking Specialist Credential exam, to ensure a broad knowledge of infrastructure and subsystems. This credential is curriculum-based and does not replace attaining other CEDIA certifications. Individuals who pass these exams will be able to use the relevant designation after their names on business cards, letterheads or other such documentation.

The revision session that takes place

before each exam does not cover the curriculum in any depth, and is intended only for candidates who have already studied the curriculum.

The CEDIA EST2 session runs from 10:00 to 17:00. The exam will be available in English, French, Spanish and Italian languages, although the revision session will only be in English. Candidates have three hours in which to complete it. The ESD1 session and the Residential
