INTERACTIVE FLOORPLAN Show me the way The company behind ISE 2014’s new interactive floorplan will be exhibiting its digital guidance systems

IF YOU’VE been looking at the electronic floorplan on the ISE 2014 website, you’ll have noticed that a new version has been in place since November. This new highly interactive floorplan was developed by 3d-berlin vr solutions – a high-tech IT company that specialises in building information and wayfinding systems. The company, which is also exhibiting at the show, was

founded in 2007 by virtual reality specialists Dr Björn Clausen and Adrian Zentner as a spin-off from the Freie Universität Berlin. Today 3d-berlin is a leading provider of technology for digital guidance systems.

The detailed, sophisticated map not only displays the entire exhibition area, but also carries information about surrounding transport connections. The minimap helps website visitors to

explore the area and the halls. Users can find and highlight individual exhibitors on the map, or use the menu to locate groups of exhibitors groups that offer a particular technology, such as digital signage or residential solutions. “From the very beginning, there was the technical demand that the system automatically updates itself," explains Zentner (pictured), who is CTO of 3d-berlin. “Via access to the EXPOCAD exhibitor management system, all data is updated daily. Optimised for the integration in ISE’s own website, the floor plan is the ideal tool for advance information about show offers, exhibitors and their stand locations.”

Hovering the cursor over a stand brings up a pop-up balloon with the name of the exhibiting company, the stand number and the size of the stand. Clicking produces a fuller ‘info balloon’ which displays all main and co- exhibitors on the stand, including logos. Clicking on a company’s

information button takes the users to a full description of the company, with a facility to schedule appointments. A ‘copy- link’ function allows booth location information to be forwarded, for example in emails. “Compared to the previous

version, the floorplan is now better adapted to the needs of the ISE and the users,” concludes Zentner.

At ISE 2014, 3d-berlin will show its product range, from simple 2D solutions to

spectacular 3D-wayfinding systems for spaces such as shopping malls, universities and hospitals. The company’s Guide3D information and wayfinding system provides orientation in large buildings and other areas, showing visitors the way in an easy-to-understand three- dimensional manner. The system is platform-independent and runs on multiple devices: on kiosk systems, in browsers, on mobile devices and even as a printout. Stand: 10-K135
