WHAT’S NEW: EPSON
Quality solutions for textile prints and product decoration
Epson’s strategy is to provide a range of textile printers to suit a wide range of applications. Its portfolio of products include dye-sublimation printers for signage, printwear
and promotional products and a direct-to-garment printer for T shirts, caps and bags.
Direct-to garment quality W
ith the growing demand for low cost, on-demand, direct- to-fabric printing with fast turnaround, Epson’s latest technology is helping to benefit fabric printers and their
bottom lines by allowing them to process more short-run jobs at lower cost while maintaining great image quality. The new all- Epson SureColor SC-F2000 direct-to-garment printer launched last year has already had a significant impact on the market. The SureColor SC-F2000 with Garment Creator software is
Epson’s first direct-to-garment T shirt printer and is designed to give small to medium businesses a high performance, low maintenance printer that is easy to use and very reliable. With low running costs, this printer gives retailers, T shirt shops,
production T shirt printers and corporate users a solution they can rely on. Users can configure the system to suit their needs by choosing from two sets of CMYK ink for white garments or CMYK with up to four white inks for coloured garments. The SC-F2000 offers a resolution of up to 1440x1440dpi for
accurate dot shape and placement, while its wide colour gamut produces vibrant colours, sharp contours and smooth gradations. When used in conjunction with Epson’s UltraChrome DG Ink, the SureColor SC-F2000 excels on dark fabric, because its white ink is tough. The white ink is circulated within the system and has been
designed to reduce clogging, which increases productivity, allowing deadlines to be met consistently. Its ink is crack resistant and is soft against skin.
The call of the catwalk Inkjet printing gives designers full control over the fabric printing
process if they wish and Epson’s aim is to encourage the high- end fashion industry to use its technology to produce spectacular and unique designs. This was demonstrated last year when renowned Japanese
fashion designer Kansai Yamamoto teamed up with Epson to produce a range of beautiful designs shown at an event held at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Using its specially developed inks, Epson printed around 30 of
Yamamoto’s designs onto cotton, polyester and silk on its state- of-the-art digital textile printers: the Monna Lisa system developed by F.lli Robustelli and the SurePress FP-30160 digital industrial textile inkjet printer.
Ultimate creativity with Epson dye-sub printing To give the printwear and promotion market a comprehensive
choice of printing solutions, Epson offers two roll-fed dye sublimation printers: the 44-inch SureColor SC-F6000 and the 64-inch SureColor SC-F7000. Providing optimised quality,

printers use Epson UltraChrome DS ink, a specially-developed aqueous ink which produces outstanding images with vibrant colours, intense blacks, sharp contours and smooth gradations. In addition, its excellent light- and wash-fastness, as well as resistance to abrasion and perspiration, makes it the ideal choice for garment applications. Yr Store is a great example of a company that has launched a
creative business using Epson SureColor printers. The company recently opened pop-up centres in Liberty London and Topman Oxford Circus offering customers the chance to create and print their own bespoke T shirts using Epson SureColor dye-sub printers – while they wait. Yr Store’s garment print installations feature interactive touch-pod design stations and live all-over printing. Customers can create unique patterns in-store from an archive
of designs and images which are then printed and applied to Tshirts on-site and ready-to-go within a matter of minutes. The T shirt designs are printed using the SureColor SC-F6000 printer supplied to Yr Store by specialist Epson re-seller RA Smart
