up in front of you? At the fourth service station it was time for a bite to eat. I couldn’t leave that car so I left the door open whilst I ate my Panini outside. My Panini was cold by the time I had fi nished showing people round the car and answering their questions in my very broken Italian. Another glance at the petrol gauge again told me I only had three bars left and 150km to go. I didn’t fancy phoning Ferrari head- quarters and telling them I had run out of petrol. How stupid would I have looked? So I stopped off for another top up and depos- ited another 100 Euros. I positioned myself comfortably back in the Ferrari FF, pressed the mission launch button (start button)

and to my amazement the fuel gauge had only gone up by two bars. Hey ho, if you can afford the FF I am sure you can afford the petrol. As the Sat Nav showed 5km to go I realised that one of the best experiences of my life (after Everton wining the FA cup in 1995 of course) was coming to an end. With 500 metres to go I could see the Maranello fac- tory gates. I arrived bang on 5.30pm, just as my Sat Nav had indicated, and my wonderful journey was complete. I arrived safely back in Maranello but needed to confess to my host that I may have slightly exceeded the toll road speed limits on a number of occasions! T is was met with a rye smile by my host and I was told not worry as…well, if you want to know what was said, ask me in person as it cannot be published! Ferrari were wonderful hosts. T ank you to Joanne Marshall, Stefano Lai and all the team at Maranello.
