teeped in 7,000 years of history, Malta oozes culture and majesty. Valletta, Malta’s capital, exhibits streets and Piazzas ranging from architecture Century Baroque to unique
collections of churches, palaces and museums. Situated virtually in the centre of the Mediterranean its legacy includes the Sicilians, Phoenicians, Romans and many more. Perched on a rocky hill top is Medina the old capital of Malta, fortified in history, which takes you back to medieval times. For our stay in Malta we chose to stay at the Corinthia with a prime location in the picturesque St Georges Bay, which looks out over the sapphire blue water of the Mediterranean. We head to our five star resort which is only a half hour drive from the airport.
On entering the tranquil resort lobby, with floor to ceiling views across the bay, we were then escorted to the executive reception. Here we had the use of the executive lounge offering soft drinks, snacks and a happy hour, which is complimentary between six and seven each evening. In addition, light breakfasts can be taken here with the option of a full breakfast buffet in the Fra Martino on the ground floor. We were quickly checked into our luxury suite and shown to our accommodation,

which boasts a large king-size bed, separate lounge and en-suite with luxury ESPA products. Two large balconies overlook the beautiful Mediterranean Sea - a perfect spot for watching fishing boats and luxury cruisers sailing by. A large modern hotel, Te Corinthia oozes understated luxury and is part of the Corinthia Group, whose flag ship hotel has opened in London, another must. Te pool areas are divided into three sections. On the top level is a small pool and waterfall gardens with a footbridge to another sun terrace. Te second houses a larger pool within easy reach of the restaurants. Te lido is a separate area open to members only and residents. Tis is on the lower tier and gets the last of the sunshine in the early evening. Towels are refreshed from the Apollo Day
Spa and refreshments are available from waiter service around the pool, which you can order directly from the bar staff via Twitter if you’re the media-savvy type. Tere is a selection of eateries within the resort including Henry J Beans, a pub style restaurant with a large menu choice and big screen action. Te Corinthia’s Apollo Day Spa is available
for a spot of relaxation with a wide selection of beauty treatments and relaxing therapies. We opted for a couples Swedish Classical Massage
which was a lovely way to unwind together. Te Spa also has a gymnasium, sauna, indoor pool, and whirlpool available. Being on the edge of the bay, we are far enough away from the tourist hordes but close enough to walk to local bars, or a taxi ride away to get to the night life. For dining options the position of the resort is perfect with numerous restaurants and bars. Signature choice is the Corinthia’s own Grill 3301. It is one of the best dining options, with a menu catering for every palate. Be aware you will need to make a reservation which is
