Digbits highlights quality

Wear parts supplier, Digbits, recognises that many hirers have extended their machinery replacement cycles during the downturn, but warns against using parts from unknown suppliers when buying items like mini excavator tracks. Director Marcus Clay believes that some products can be made of poor quality materials. “The bulk of our track sales this year have been sourced from Camoplast Solideal, which not only has its own factories for construction tracks, but also owns rubber plantations in Sri Lanka. The latest designs include interlocking, continuous track lugs which reduce vibrations and increase resistance to de-tracking on cross gradients, or while turning.” Sister company, BAV Crushers, is developing a smaller rotary

screening bucket to add to its range. The BAV-RS1, which will be suitable for excavators from 1.5 to 2.5 tonnes, will have a planetary drive unit designed to screen at low engine revs for maximum efficiency. It will incorporate a 50mm mesh drum with 25mm and 12.5mm bolt-on sub-screens, and will be available early next year.

More to come from Takeuchi

Takeuchi plans to launch several machines in the next few months. Included in the new line-up for 2014 will be a replacement for the successful 1.5 tonne TB016, namely the TB216, which will be unveiled at the Executive Hire Show. As well as having expanding tracks, it will offer increased dig depth and a new VDU control panel. The company says that demand has grown this year for machines in the 6 tonne class, with the recently launched TB260, pictured, proving popular. It has been designed to have a compact footprint and reduced tail swing for working in confined areas. November also sees the introduction of a new 9.5 tonne wheeled excavator, the TB295W.

classified FOR SALE Versatile Altrad Belle performer

Altrad Belle reports that it is receiving an increasing number of enquiries for its BMD300 4x4 Minidumper from gardeners and grounds care professionals, and that more hirers are recognising the potential of the machine due to the range of interchangeable attachments that are available.

A towing hitch can be fitted for moving caravans, trailers or boats, and loading ramps facilitate tipping or discharging into skips. A flatbed attachment can be used to transport awkward loads such as bags of cement and paving slabs, and the company points out that the snow plough implement for the machine could be in demand if the winter weather should hit hard this year.
