Basic Life Support


The Primary Survey: D R A B C Danger


Response Check the area is safe. If necessary and if it is safe


to do so remove any hazards


Check to ensure the casualty is conscious by asking them “Are you alright?”


Airway


If there is no response, open the airway using the Head Tilt / Chin Lift method


Breathing


If the casualty IS breathing normally, place them in the Recovery Position. If the casualty is NOT breathing normally, send for an ambulance, ask for an AED and begin CPR


Circulation


Check for signs of bleeding and if found control the bleeding
