Thousands Flock To Foodie Feast In Sefton Park South Liverpool was awash with 40,000 foodies in September, as visitors flocked to Sefton Park for the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival over the weekend of 7th and 8th. Now in its sixth year, the festival saw demos from TV chefs including Gizzi Erskine, Levi Roots and Shelina Permaloos served up alongside the finest fayre from more than 160 local restaurants. Te festival will also hold its annual Food and Drink awards at Liverpool College on 17th September. Designed to recognise hospitality in the local hospitality industry, new categories for this year include Young Chef of the Year, Best Front of House, and Outstanding Champion and Pioneer to the Liverpool Food and Drink Scene. Gizzi Erskine, one of the celebrity chefs at the festival, commented: “I loved the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival. Te atmosphere was great and it was much slicker than many similar London events. It was fantastic!”


Boulestin Restaurant Launches In Style Famed interior designer and socialite Nicky Haslam was among the celebrity guests who descended on St James’s last night to celebrate the opening of London’s Boulestin restaurant and café. Other leading names who gathered for the launch - and the welcome return to the capital of renowned restaurateur Joel Kissin - included Toyah Willcox, Penny Smith, Tamer Hassan, Bollywood star Upen Patel and the brilliant Spanish chef Omar Allibhoy. Attendees feasted on canapé-style versions of Boulestin signature dishes - Cod’s Roe on Toast, Sweet Cured Herrings, Rillettes de Tours on Toast and Mini Lemon Tart among them - created especially for the occasion by head chef Andrew Woodford. Boulestin comprises a luxury 60-seat bistro, serving mostly classic French food, a private dining room seating up to 44 and the 30-seat Café Marcel. A hidden courtyard terrace completes the offering.
