Santorini Grace Jonathan Kearney enjoys a Greek honeymoon destination in five-star splendour

Aegean Sea, in the North West of the Caldera, the Grace offers one of the most enviable vantage points from which to view Santorini’s world famous sunsets. Happily this was one of the first sights that greeted us on arrival, as we were warmly welcomed to the hotel, setting the tone for a fabulous stay. As we were shown to our room, with stunning sea view terrace and private plunge pool, we were informed dinner reservations had been arranged for the evening. Refreshed with a selection of bespoke hotel toiletries, we made our way to the hotel restaurant adjacent to the heavenly cliff top infinity pool. A harpist blissfully captured the mood as we dined by candlelight and savoured the warm night air. We both began with spicy lamb in filo pastry, while I enjoyed the red Atlantis wine

he Grace Santorini is located in Imerovigli, in one of the highest inhabited points of this beautiful island. Loftily perched above the

native to the island. Te chef, who we met later, informed us that the restaurant strives to source as many ingredients from the island as possible. Te dedication to the craft of the chef and his team was evident throughout the meal, with all dishes beautifully prepared and presented. To follow, my wife enjoyed the smoked chicken breast, zucchini and soft cheese bulgur pilaf and I the sumptuously cooked pan seared beef fillet with melon parmesan risotto and Vinsanto wine sauce. With the moonlight dancing on the sea, we studied the cruise liners and ferries far below, making their way down the coast, as we sampled some decadent deserts. My hot chocolate lava cake appealed to my sweet tooth and proved to be my favourite dish of the lot. Before bed we couldn’t resist a dip in our

large heated plunge pool, which afforded us relative privacy without compromising the stunning view. Our room wasn’t overly ostentatious, but was tastefully in-keeping
