Straight from the Parisian catwalk we speak to director of bridal wear company Elite Sposa UK Mark Smithers on the values and future of this upcoming brand

Tis is something that Mark Smithers, director of Elite Sposa UK bridal seeks to satisfy with an array of gorgeous gowns conveying the true meaning of what it is to have a fairytale ending. “After our own fairytale wedding in 2010, my wife and I decided we would like to help provide the same experience for other couples,” Mark says. “Initially we procured a business in Essex, Aphrodite Bridal, in 2012 for my wife to administer. Ten after forming both a business and personal relationship with the original supplier from Europe, I proceeded to expand the operation throughout the UK and Ireland, and subsequently, after the introduction of new bridal and evening wear collections throughout most of the world.” With hundreds, even thousands, of

Priding themselves on providing some of the
very best in fairytale influenced gowns, Mark says, “the true influence is wholly modern in thought and design whilst taking into account the traditional as well as the contemporary look.” Proving that despite Elite Sposa’s designs appearing as somewhat reminiscent of Victorian and early Edwardian gowns due to the fairytale Princess approach, their designs combine tradition with modernity in a tasteful manner. “All of our present collections have been designed by Yilmaz (Zumrut Gelinklik, Turkey) and Nancy Guetsso (Cielo Blu, Italy). Our designers are a very talented group of people who are proud to be in partnership with us.” Mark tells us, stating that there is a lot of
hard work and determination put into each of Elite Sposa’s pieces. Tis hard work did not go unnoticed as Mark was invited to showcase Elite Sposa UK’s collections recently on the Parisian J Spring Fashion Show just months after launching the brand in 2012. It was an experience that met all expectations of those involved. Mark tells us about the uniqueness of the designs, “We use a variety of materials such as silk, French lace, satin, organza, taffeta, kenzo, crinoline and monaliza combined with Swarovski and Jablanik stones and distinctive colours. Elite’s collection is cleverly designed to provide for every bride’s body in special designs, effectively accentuating both style and femininity.” So where can our readers get their hands on the dress of their dreams? It seems Elite Sposa UK have been kept very busy over the past year with distribution ever growing across the world as Mark says, “We currently have 22 direct stockists throughout the UK and Ireland which we are planning to increase to 50 by the end of this year. In respect of the countries we now have contracts with we aim to have a further 200 outlets by the close of 2013.” Making further connections in Spain, France, Germany, Italy, the Philippines, South East Asia and the USA; with new Head of Operations in USA and South East Asia, Teri Bing de Joya, Elite Sposa UK looks to branch out further onto the worldwide stage of coveted bridal wear.
