As Asgar Boo gets ready to unveil his new hair care brand to the world, he talks about what is next

orn and raised in Guyana, South America, Asgar Boo is now a global hairdressing superstar. Moving from his native South
America to England when he was 12, he was introduced to hairdressing by his sister and from there realised that he wanted a career in it. From here Asgar began his career that has lasted over two decades, opening his first salon in 1989 and then the Daniel Galvin salon in London’s West End and he has never looked back. “I was always good at art and literally by
chance I became interested in hairdressing. At the time I was unsure as to what the future would hold. I have had two jobs in 35 years unlike my son who is 21 and had about seven jobs already.” Finding his creative flair and seeing that it made a difference to other people’s lives

motivated and inspired Asgar to give his customers the ultimate cuts and this is where his world famous reputation has been established. With his signature style being the classic bob, Asgar believes it is timeless in fashion and suits women of all ages, “It has become edgier as the seasons pass by, the style can really bring out the true beauty in woman by highlighting facial features.” Being fortunate enough to work with some of the world’s most beautiful women such as Cindy Crawford and Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Asgar is always open to new opportunities that come his way. One singer he would love to work with is Rihanna: “I love the way she experiments with her hair, from blonde to black and straight to a curly bob. I think there would certainly be no boundaries to one’s creativity.” Tese days Asgar’s work involves photo shoots and red carpet events and he has had many of his own hairstyles featured on the front covers of magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. With women all over the world worshipping the hair extraordinaire, he is a regular columnist for newspapers in the UK, India and the Middle East. His new hair care line aims to feed the scalp and encourage healthy, strong and gorgeous hair from the inside. Asgar adds: “I have been developing this truly superb hair care line because products that are already out there simply do not do enough to nourish our hair. I have used the most unique ingredients from the rainforests of Guyana and around the world.” Wanting to keep the ingredients as chemical
free as possible to maintain the exotic feel, Asgar took inspiration from the trees and leaves within the rainforests to produce a totally unique hair line. Including not only hair care products such as shampoos, Asgar has also designed brushes that aim to improve the look and feel of our hair. Looking back over his career Asgar will always
remember the excitement of the day he was given the keys to his first salon: “When I turned

the key in the lock and stepped into the space, I had to imagine what it would be like. For me that moment was a dream come true.” With a mixture of luck and extremely hard
work, Asgar has truly turned the hairdressing world upside down and has inspired thousands of women’s hair styles for almost four decades. Who knows what’s next for this head master.
