OBLIVION

WHAT IS IT? Scary Movie 5is the staple horror spoof that’s as cringe-worthy as it is ridiculous. This latest outing in the cheesy franchise is no different to its predecessors in that it relies on a cast of fading Hollywood names to mock the latest horror flicks. Amongst these are the likes of Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan, Ashley Tisdale and Snoop Dogg. The film follows Dan and Jody, a suburban American family as they bring their newborn baby home. Soon enough, the paranormal goings-on begin and the floodgates of cliché horror are thrust open. Primarily based on the Paranormal Activityseries, the film also draws on links to other Hollywood favourites such as Black Swanand Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Viewers can expect to see ‘elaborate’ gags that vary from a keg party of robot pool cleaners to an ape using the toilet, and even a sketch that features food made of human waste.

Scary Movie 5 is an evil that most consumers would hope to avoid.

WHY SHOULD I STOCK THIS? That’s a difficult one to answer. Scary Movie 5carries the tagline of “Evil is coming.” And it’s one that the film certainly lives up to as Scary Movie 5is an evil that most consumers would hope to avoid. Past entries in the Scary Moviefranchise have proven successful, delivering occasionally well-crafted gags in its crude manner. But No.5 proves that the series is showing signs of age and its few laughs come from a host of

recycled gags. But still, the Scary Moviefranchise has developed a cult following and no amount of negative hearsay will deter core fans of the series from checking out this latest flick.
