RETAIL ESSENTIALS: FINAL FANTASY XIV: A REALM REBORN RETAIL TALKING POINTS
Square Enix has finished rebuilding Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. After the negative feedback received from the initial launch, the publisher is hoping to revitalise interest in its MMO, as well as bring PS3 players into the fold.
Set in the Realm of Eorzea, players must save their world from darkness once again.
Gamers can choose between four different classes: Disciples of War, Disciples of Magic, Disciples of Hand, and Disciples of the Land. Each has different abilities and perks to give the users the chance to mould their character differently.
Much like most Final Fantasy games, characters can be assigned different roles such as Paladin, Monk and Summoner. Paladins possess strong defensive capabilities, Monks offer an offensive choice whilst Summoners have the means to conjure magical beasts into battle.
There are three factions for the player to join. Each has different characters from the game to interact with and receive missions from.
Character creation gives players the option of five different races and each race is divided into two different forms.
MARKETING PLAN
SQUARE Enix will support Final Fantasy XIVwith a widespread online campaign, which will target core fans of the franchise and MMO players, in addition to new fans such as PS3 buyers and the wider gaming audience.
The publisher will also kick-off a two-week TV campaign to tie-in with the launch of Final Fantasy XIV. Square Enix will maintain its
marketing campaign for the title well after launch, supporting the MMO with both new game content and additional marketing initiatives in order continue building awareness amongst consumers.
