RETAIL ESSENTIALS: THE WONDERFUL 101 RETAIL TALKING POINTS


 The Wonderful 101is a miniature superhero fun-fest spearheaded by Bayonetta developer Platinum Games.


 Players control pint-sized superhero Wonder-Red as he combats the invading alien threat of the Geathjerk who have planet Earth under siege.


 Red must enlist the help of Blossom City’s regular citizens to unite and form The Wonderful 101: a battalion of superheroes who are the last defence against the destruction of their city.


 The Wii U’s touchscreen allows users to activate powers by drawing shapes in the heat of battle. These rally heroes to form strategic formations, allowing players to perform special attacks such as Unite Sword, Unite Gun and Wonder-Red’s fists of fire.


 As players complete missions and earn O-parts, they can use these to purchase additional powers in order to strengthen their arsenal.


 Up to five players can combine their powers and fight together in the game’s multiplayer mode.


MARKETING PLAN


NINTENDO’S marketing campaign for The Wonderful 101is well underway, with online activity having begun from the end of July. This activity will be sustained across specialist games websites until the end of August. Nintendo will also tie in the launch of The Wonderful 101with the theatrical release of Kick Ass 2. The firm will launch a five-week cinema campaign for the title on August 19th, which will draw on the similarities between the two superhero brands in order to build awareness of the game.


This will also be supported by TV activity, which will run from August 19th to September 8th and will be aimed at The Wonderful 101’score audience in the hopes of raising awareness and driving pre-orders.
