A hybrid facility that flexes to fit any and all events
Smart Spaces CenturyLink Center Omaha includes both a convention center and an arena — a feature that helped the venue secure the 2016 U.S. Olympic Swim Trials, the third time it will have hosted the program.
Rooms aplenty The $291-million CenturyLink Center Omaha is directly connected by glass skywalk to the 600-room Hilton Omaha, an AAA Four-Diamond hotel. Meeting planners can also utilize 2,000 hotel rooms within a three-mile radius of the center.
Part convention center, part arena, Century- Link Center Omaha is the preferred choice of planners for meetings, conventions, and events of all kinds in the Midwest. As host to the first and second rounds of the 2008 NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament, the Berk- shire Hathaway Annual Shareholders Meet- ing, and “American Idol” auditions, the facility is well-schooled in meeting the demands of various types of high-profile events. In 2015, the venue will again host the second and third rounds of the NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament, and in 2016 the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials for the third time. Omaha so flexible is its 18,300-seat arena, where two temporary 50-meter pools were constructed in 2008 for the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials, a first for the event. When it comes to hosting sporting events, quick

changes are easy — the staff can turn the 30,000-square-foot arena floor from a bas- ketball court into an ice-hockey rink in just 80 minutes. Other types of events are just as at home in the arena space, from major concerts like the Rolling Stones to Ak-Sar- Ben’s River City Rodeo & Stock Show. Flexibility is also a key attribute of the
convention-center portion of CenturyLink Center Omaha. Its three exhibit halls can be combined for a total of 194,000 square feet of contiguous exhibition space, and more than 63,000 square feet of flexible meeting space includes breakout and meeting rooms of varying sizes. For galas, receptions, and other special events, the 31,000-square- foot Peter Kiewit Grand Ballroom and the 10,880-square-foot Junior Ballroom offer well-equipped yet elegant spaces. Since opening its doors in September
2003, CenturyLink Center Omaha has served as the centerpiece of Downtown Omaha’s $2-billion riverfront revitalization. The adja- cent 24,000-seat baseball stadium, TD Amer- itrade Park Omaha, also opened in 2011, and has attracted new restaurants, shops, and four new hotels to the neighborhood. More new developments are in the works as well. In the nearby Old Market entertainment and shopping district, the state’s first Hyatt Place will open next year with 159 rooms.
