AXIS ANIMATION Halo 4: Spartan Ops


One of the UK’s leading animation studios, 2012 saw Axis undertake its most ambitious and creatively exciting project in Halo 4: Spartan Ops. Axis created ten five-minute animated episodes to accompany the weekly Spartan Ops playable content, which helped develop characters in the episodic narrative.


CUBIC MOTION LEGO City Undercover


Manchester-based facial animation firm Cubic Motion’s technology is being used for more than photorealistic characters. On LEGO City Undercover, it helped bring life to the characters with huge volumes of facial animation using both performance capture and audio-based services.


FACEWARE TECHNOLOGIES AND COUNTERPUNCH STUDIOS Crysis 3


FT and CS’s work on Crysis 3 pushed the boundaries of photorealism. Using photogrammic scans of each actor’s face, mo-cap technology and photoreal facial rigging, the team were able to achieve film- quality facial animations.


RABCAT Forza Horizon


Rabcat was tasked with providing support on Forza Horizon’s world creation and terrain and level production. With a crew of 17 people, and an overall effort of 84 man- months, Rabcat helped Playground Games create some of the most stunning landscapes ever seen in an open world racing title.


REALTIME UK Wargaming trailers


Realtime UK has continued to raise the benchmark in CG imagery and animation. Wargaming approached it to create a teaser trailer to form the centrepiece for the launch of its anticipated new game World of Warplanes. The trailer received over 50,000 initial views on YouTube, building hype.


TARSIER STUDIOS LittleBigPlanet


LittleBigPlanet puts customisation at its heart. Swedish studio Tarsier has been responsible for filling the PS3 game and its periodic DLC packs with button-sized wheels, toy swords, playful costumes, cracking contraptions and a host of other paraphernalia.
