summer land Located in Nimtofte on Djursland, East Jutland (about an hour from the city of Aarhus), Djurs

Sommerland was established in 1981 by the father of

current owners

Henrik B and Michael B Nielsen. Today it features more than 60 rides and attractions spread across seven themed zones, as well as a large waterpark with more than 1km of slides. As the park’s name suggests, it is a summer operation, open from May through to September plus a bonus week in October for Halloween. The largest of several Sommerland parks across Scandinavia, it is the fifth-largest tourist attraction in Denmark, attracting 623,000 guests in 2012.

broad appeal compared to Piraten, where many people don’t dare to go on a 32m-high coaster. This one stays pretty close to the ground all the way round, so no one gets scared of the coaster due to the height. Plus you can ride from 1.2 metres and up. Leaving aside the theming, it’s just a very intense ride from start to finish. Being launched from 0 to 85kmh sitting on an ATV is a lot of fun, it produces a completely different sensation of freedom and speed to any other coaster. This is further enhanced by the design of the track with a string of rapid side-to-side swings and a low track height which creates the impression of moving incredibly fast close to the ground. I know that our guests will love it, and even the coaster fans that visit us too.
