IAAPA’s Asian Expo
moves to Beijing for 2014 The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) has confirmed that Asian Attractions Expo (AAE) will take place for the first time next year in the Chinese capital, visiting Beijing’s China National Convention Center (CNCC) from 17 to 20 June.
“The attractions industry within China is growing at a rapid pace with several attractions recently completed and a number of other major amusement parks in development,” notes Andrew Lee, IAAPA’s vice- president of Asia Pacific operations. “This makes Beijing a logical choice to host AAE 2014.” IAAPA further cites the city’s experience as host to the 2008 Olympics, its local tourist attractions, its history and diverse culture as making it the perfect backdrop for Asian Attractions Expo. The show’s host venue is located next to The National Stadium (“Bird’s Nest”) and National Aquatics Centre (“Water Cube”) in the former Olympic park.
Since 1997, Asian Attractions Expo has been the premier international trade show and conference for the leisure and attractions industry in Asia, although a domestic Chinese exhibition is held in Beijing ever spring under the auspices of the Chinese Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions (CAAPA). AAE last visited mainland China in 2006, with an event in Shanghai. AAE 2013 takes place from 5 to 7 June in Singapore – see page 22.

Deutschland Following our story last issue about the new Tempel X-Pedition ride at Legoland Deutschland, Park World is happy to confirm that the British company UK Loco was responsible for the theming of the dark ride, which features animatronics by Sally Corporation and a Mack ride system.
Solo’s new and improved 651C and 656C chainsaws benefit from an even smoother operation, thanks to the inclusion of new pistons and cylinders to reduce vibration.
Perfect for groundscare professionals working in parks, landscapes, private estates or wooded settings, the 651C and 656C also benefit from a light weight of just 5.4kg and improved ergonomics. Users will particularly appreciate the new starter handle shape and comfortable front handle with rubber cover for better grip.
With a 15in/38cm bar as standard, the saws also benefit from a solid steel guide bar with replacement nose tip, digital ignition, better air-flow routing, reduced exhaust emissions and a quieter operation. There is also the option to upgrade to a 18in/45cm bar. The result is a powerful, reliable performance that is also comfortable on the operator, even when cutting for prolonged periods.

An Egyptian-themed interactive adventure with shooting technology by Lagotronics, Tempel X-Pedition is the highlight of the German park’s 6,000 square-metre area Reich de Pharaonen. It is in fact the latest of several similar rides at Legoland parks around the world, including Templet at Legoland Billund in Denmark, for which UK Loco was also a subcontractor.
