2.ECCLECTIC ART INSTALLATIONS AND INTENSE VISUALS

Aside from the audio-performances, another element that MUTEK is worshipped for are the intricate visual concepts that are brought to you by internationally renowned artists from around the globe. Whether it’s large scale- LED projections, never-been-seen-before 3D mapping concepts, powerful art installations, live electronic theatre, or intimate visual landscapes, the artists that are collaborating in this year’s edition all have powerful messages to convey through their work, ranging anywhere from issues with consumerism, political manifestos and global economic crisis.

3. FREE SHOWS FROM LOCAL ARTISTS

Yes, you read that right…FREE shows! Already the fact that this year’s Mutek’ers will have access to amaz- ing free performances is a true gem, but lets not forget that the true beauty lies in being able to build an appreciation for this city’ best kept secrets … our local artists! From producers to visual chemists, MUTEK will be showcasing the following artists:

Augustine Wrong, Stefny, Dead Horse Beats, Atam One, Ramzi, Hear, MacGuffin, Valentin Stip, Van Did and more.

4. PIKNIC ELECTRONIK!

Three best electronic music festivals/events in Montreal? Igloofest, Piknic Electronik and of course MUTEK. So what better way than to compliment each other than throwing a banging afternoon party at the city’s favorite outdoor venue Piknic Electronik to pay tribute to the one festival that empowers digital creativity and electronic music! The event will strictly feature the following MUTEK artists: Sweden’s Axel Boman, Germany’s Dewalta and finally, San Proper, a kick ass artist from the Netherlands. Your ears can expect a provoking and mind-bending musical experience with this year’s MUTEK//PIKNIC. Don’t forget your sandwich!

5. AND OF COURSE … THE AFTER PARTIES

Now, what is any festival/convention without the crazy late night partying and the even sicker after parties? Well, it’s safe to say that it’s pretty much a given that MUTEK has obviously got that covered. The five-day festival will be hosting their NOCTURNE parties each and every single night throughout its entire duration. The parties start at 10 and only shut down at the last call – 3am. This year we can expect artists such as Michael Mayer, Frivolous and Tokimonsta to grace the decks and educate their guests on a differ- ent wave of partying.

As for the after parties, we all know there are going to be plenty, and we all know that if we spoke about them now, the whole meaning of an after party would be flawed. Remember, number one rule of fight club …
