MAGIC OF

5 REASONS YOU CANNOT MISS THIS FESTIVAL MUTEK

“MUTEK is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the dissemination and development of digital creativity in sound, music, and audio-visual art.

Founded in 2000, MUTEK, its central platform is an annual five-day event in Montreal that takes place in late May and early June. Each year, more than 100 artists, panelists, and industry professionals participate in what has become a leading event of its kind in North America.

The MUTEK festival has presented many of electronic music’s most established figures, while providing a platform for numerous new talents who have gone on to build sustainable careers, often as a result of their appearances at the festival.”

As anticipated by many, the electronic music and culture festival does everything right again this year. Here are five reasons as to why YOU (yes you) should check out MUTEK2013...

1. DEEP LISTENING PERFORMANCES & LIVE ACTS

What’s so distinctive about MUTEK’s concept is that every year, tens of thousands of fans gather up not for the next best ultra epic neon infested, “lets- press-play-and-pump-our-fists-in-the-air-and-call-it- EDM” event, but instead a non-dance floor oriented event based on experimentation, innovation and the future of electronic music. This year, performances and live acts are likely to showcase software development, equipment invention and avant-garde experimentation of electronic music. Get read for some “twitchy sound glitches, vintage deconstructions and worldwide firsts” by sound engineers on the frontier of cult status rather than typical top 40 radio names.

Sounds to expect: techno, house, dub, IDM, and experimental electronic music.
