This year, Piknic celebrates our nation’s kick ass birthday with a look into the future of music by welcoming Sound In Motion (SIM), a traveling independent festival that creates a platform that explores sound in motion through a diverse range of forward thinking electronic music performances, interactive a/v showcases, dancing days and nights, knowledge exchange, collaboration and conversations held in various indoor and outdoor locations in Toronto and Montreal! SIM showcases some of its best Canadian artists, Alicia Hush, Chris Larsen and Billy Dalessandro as well as their international guest straight from Germany, a meticulous technoid sound-sculptor with his own genre of music dubbed Clikno, we welcome the talented Dr. Nojoke!

The MFR label’s vision is simple. Ignore the norm and broaden the defi nition of electronic music in order to deliver it to as many music lovers as possible. On Sunday July 28th, Montreal will be joining the MRF revolution with the sounds of some of the label’s key artists. The sounds of Canadian melodic-techno troubadour Fairmont, Montreal veteran DJ Jordan dare who explores his passion for techno and electro with his musical roots in post-punk and early synth music as well as the label owners themselves, My Favorite Robot, the Canadian trio of Jared Simms, James Teej, and Voytek Korab who in a space of a few short years have become a central part of the global electronic music scene!
