CALLING ALL WANNABE FILM STARS
A number of programmes and fi lms have recently shown parking in a less than glowing light, but it is now the parking profession’s time in the sun. The challenges of managing parking in the UK will be the subject of a documentary series for the BBC, and the fi lmmakers are looking for input from the profession. Bafta-award winning company Century Films, the same company that made the documentary Parking Mad, will be taking an honest look at all the issues and complications of managing parking in
Britain today. As well as featuring the motorists’ point of view, they would also like to get a better understanding of why it’s necessary for rules and regulations to be put in place – and the challenges of managing them.
They are hoping to get as many relevant people and organisations as possible involved – local councils, tribunals, parking management companies, local residents, and private car park fi rms. It will be a balanced documentary and the aim is to give people across the board an opportunity to provide their input and challenge common misconceptions. Parking Mad attracted 2.6 million viewers but represented a limited view of this complex topic. The fi lmmakers want both to expand on this and to look at things from the other side of the fence – What are the challenges of governing the rules of the road? What would the implications be if there were no restrictions? And how do you deal with people who regularly fl out the law? If you think that this is something you might like to be involved in, please contact Paula on 020 7378 6106, ext 215, or email paula.wittig@centuryfi
