Electronic Assembly Announces New Rugged, Long-Life OLED Displays

Gilching, Germany — Electronic Assem bly has introduced a range of OLED displays into the market, whose life time rivals that of conven- tional TFT and LCD panels. At room temperature, these products can deliver a service life performance of 100,000 operating hours and more - a life expectancy well beyond that of other OLEDs, and most convention- al display units as well, according to the manufacturer. OLED displays, often used in

consumer electronics such as smart phones, have historically not offered the life expectancy required for industrial applications. Con - versely, industrial displays have not offered the clarity, high con- trast, and wide viewing angle of consumer-product OLED displays. The new OLEDs offer both long

life and much-improved legibility for industrial applications. In addition, the displays boast a maximum oper- ating temperature of 80°C, so they can function in machine rooms and other demanding high-ambient envi- ronments. They can also be operated at arctic temperatures as low as - 40°C without any loss of contrast. Unlike conventional LCD dis-

New, rugged, long-life OLED displays.

The three most important char-

acter sets - European, Japan ese and Cyrillic - are all contained in the con- troller of the displays; whereas spe- cial characters can be defined addi- tionally. The modules need only a simple form of power supply and a low power consumption between 15 and 50 mA. Depending on the mod- ule, the screens can display two lines, be tween eight to 20 characters or

four lines with 20 characters per line. Contact: Electronic Assembly GmbH, Zeppelinstr. 19, D-82205
