Eighth graders: Apply for Energy Camp BY ERIN MOORE, Member Relations Specialist


s soon as school is out in May, three eighth-grade students will be leaving the panhandle for Hinton, Okla. While there, they will hike, swim, and play volleyball at Canyon Camp as part of Tri-County Electric Cooperative’s Youth Power Energy Camp.

While at Canyon Camp from May 28-31, students will learn more about those who bring power to their lives: electric cooperatives. Approximately 85 eighth- grade students representing electric cooperatives from around Oklahoma will gather to learn and have fun. Apply today to be one of those students!


Any student within Tri-County Electric’s service territory interested in applying for a spot at the camp may apply now. Hurry, the deadline to apply is April 12!

About Energy Camp Energy Camp is a contest where 8th grade students from within Tri-County Electric’s service territory enter to win a four-day trip, May 28-31 to Canyon Camp outside of Hinton, Oklahoma. At this leadership development camp, students learn about rural electrification while also having fun swimming, hiking and playing volleyball.


How to enter Write a letter to the principal of your school naming specific actions the school should take to be more energy efficient. Include photos and other exhibits you can come up with to support the case for your school to be energy smart. Be creative!


Letter length 200-350 words


Requirement


AN ENERGY CAMP PARTICIPANT PREPARES TO CLIMB A POLE WITH ASSISTANCE FROM A CO-OP EMPLOYEE.


Letter must be typed in a professional font, in block style lettering and be from you to your principal. Be sure to sign it!


Deadline


Entries must be at Tri-County Electric’s office by Friday, April 12.
