TVBEurope 55 IBC2013 Show Preview Adder Technology AdderLink Infinity is updated By Carolyn Giardina

KEYBOARD, VIDEO and mouse specialist Adder Technology is showing AdderLink Infinity, which allows a computer and its operator to be separated by almost any distance

Ovide All-in-one smart assistant By David Fox

THE NEW Ovide Smart Assist HD2 is a comprehensive video assist unit that includes a 22-inch Full HD touchscreen monitor, with 40 hours of internal recording using Apple’s ProRes codec, and running the widely used QTake HD video assistance software. Previously, running QTake HD

required computers, capture cards, monitors, and was AC powered, but Ovide, QTake HD’s Spanish distributor, packed it into a 19kg 11cm-thick unit that can be powered by anything from 10v to 30v (it can take two regular

Sonnet Test for Echo expansion By Carolyn Giardina

SONNET IS previewing the Echo Express III-D and III-R Thunderbolt-to- PCI Express expansion products, and the Echo 15 Thunderbolt Dock. The family of Echo Express Thunderbolt-to-PCI Express Card expansion chassis

full-length PCIe 2.0 cards; features a 300W power supply with a 75W auxiliary power connector for PCIe cards with higher power requirements; and integrates large, quiet cooling fans. With its companion Mobile Rack Kit, the Echo Express III-R enables users to install one or two mobile rack devices such as an LTO tape drive, shuttle drives, and memory card

Thunderbolt is lightening: The Echo Express III-R features Thunderbolt 2

enables the use of PCIe cards with any Mac computer with Thunderbolt ports. Sonnet is demonstrating workflows featuring pro cards from Avid, ATTO, AJA, Bluefish444, Red, Blackmagic Design and its own range. The new Echo Express III-D desktop and Echo Express III-R rackmount chassis incorporate Thunderbolt 2 technology, which delivers twice the throughput of standard Thunderbolt. Each supports three single-width,

readers inside the Echo chassis. All Echo Express systems enable the use of compatible,

professional video capture, audio interface, 8Gb Fibre Channel, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, SAS and SATA HBA, and RAID controller cards with iMac, Mac Mini, new Mac Pro, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro computers. Additionally, these Echo Express chassis feature dual Thunderbolt 2 ports to support connection to new Thunderbolt 2- equipped host computers and daisy- chaining of other Thunderbolt devices. The Echo 15 Thunderbolt Dock is a docking station for computers with

camera batteries on the back). It has inputs for two cameras, but users can link up to eight systems controlling up to 16 cameras, all of which will record and playback simultaneously, with a click. Clips can also be played back on an iPad, independently of the files being played/recorded on the Smart Assist. It detects when cameras start and stop, to automatically record while you are playing back takes. When playing back one take, the system looks for the matching pair of the other camera and plays them back in sync. For 3D productions, it can be used without the need of Stereobrain or

similar 3D processing hardware, allowing users to adjust convergence, preview 3D, measure differences, etc.

Included Composite

Room software allows chroma key, blending and wipes, using pre-recorded or imported clips, stills, or CGI imagery. It can also do edits, and colour correct (importing LUTs from finishing software such as daVinci), as well as compensate for anamorphic lenses, move images, rescale, etc. You can see the

Thunderbolt ports. It features 15 ports: four USB 3.0, one Gigabit Ethernet, one FireWire 800, one headphone, one microphone, one speaker, one audio in, one pass-through Thunderbolt (for either another Thunderbolt device or an

without any loss in capabilities over standard IP infrastructure. Adder will also be supporting IBC as a technology partner while demonstrating its latest firmware update, developed to meet the needs of the broadcast and post production markets.

The v.3 firmware offers three key

upgrades; network teaming provides double the bandwidth of previous versions for HD video at 60fps over standard IP infrastructure. This also prevents any single point of failure from taking down an operation. AIM 3.0 also

allows server redundancy, and it provides 10 language options. Often used in conjunction with Avid

PowerTools, Media Composer and Autodesk Smoke and Flame, Adder’s tools are used for extending, switching or as a matrix. For the fifth year, Adder will be an

official IBC technology supporter and will be providing AdderLink Infinity products to support the conference extension, switching and InfoChannel that runs throughout the show. 7.B33
