No longer a hot head: Ianiro’s new 7000 Varibeam LED light
By David Fox
TRADITIONAL RED heads have been a mainstay for broadcast lighting for decades, despite their high heat output and power requirements. Users still want the bright output and excellent colour characteristics of tungsten, but without the problems. Ianiro hopes it has the answer with the new 7000 Varibeam LED series, which has a Colour Quality Scale measurement of 91. “The Ianiro tungsten red head is famous. The range goes back to the 1960s, so we were not willing to tarnish the reputation of the company by releasing immature LED technology,” said Nick Allen-Miles, MD of Ianiro International. “With the Varibeam LED, there’s no compromise whatsoever; the photometrics are quite outstanding. The light output is phenomenal, delivering up to 1388 lux at 2m, while the dimmer operates with virtually no colour shift at all.” They have the distinctive

RASCULAR IS showcasing its flexible router control system, RouteMaster, which integrates its router control and emulation technology. RouteMaster accepts multiple incoming router control sessions via TCP/IP or RS422 from automation systems, Helm panels, and other systems using a wide range of industry-standard router control protocols, and in turn converts these to control broadcast routers. RouteMaster can translate
router protocols, for example Probel SWP-08 to Evertz, and offers transport conversion, such as TCP/IP to RS422. It also supports connection multiplexing by adding additional hardware and software control panels to existing routers. RouteMaster is available in configurations supporting up to 256 incoming control connections. 8.B38a
compact design and traditional lightweight build of a red head, but use less energy, thanks to a
high-efficiency, exclusive long-life LED array and a special heatsink, customised by Ianiro to exploit
the limited space inside the casing. Ianiro claims that the light’s performance is indistinguishable
from a tungsten unit. “The LED is not just more
comfortable for the talent under the light but is easier for the crew to use: it’s cooler, more economical and more durable. 11.E32
