SHOW PREVIEW: ISE 2013
latency. Features include edge blending, warping and keystone correction, mapping, 4K video res- olution support, real-time effects, and a downloadable encoding user interface. Sony is showcasing its full line-
up of business, education and home cinema projectors, digital signage solutions, corporate live meeting and audio solutions, as well as its public displays and BRAVIA professional displays. Vis- itors will be given the opportunity to experience Sony’s latest solu- tions, demonstrating how the company is delivering on its ‘Year of AV Innovations’ vision. The company will highlight a number of solutions that unify products from across its portfolio in AV media and audio not tradi- tionally offered to the ISE audi- ence in the past. By combining knowledge in AV media, audio and displays, the company will introduce an end-to-end corporate live meeting solution that it says no other manufacturer can offer. This will enable businesses to cap- ture events live and then distribute the content out to distant audi- ences, whenever they need. The manufacturer will also be show- casing its value-add classroom cap- ture and DWZ audio solutions for the education market. Vtron is unveiling its LCD Nar-
row Bezel Series at the show. This ranges from 46in to 60in and is pitched at the transportation, security, broadcast and power util- ities industry. The company says the series affords demanding video wall applications some flexi- bility in terms of signal display. It also offers an in-built quad image splitter, DVI looping out without signal degradation, and high syn- chronisation without frame rate degradation.
AUDIO Biamp will be promoting its Build- ing in Soundwhite paper, a sum- mary of academic research spanning three decades, which looks at the impact of noise on health and productivity, and con- siders the benefits of effective sound design. “We have worked with Julian Treasure, a regular speaker at TED events on sound, on the study’s development, and it includes a number of takeaways that organisations of all sizes can put into practice, to enhance employee productivity, and improve our health and wellbeing generally,” says Graeme Harrison, vice president of marketing at Biamp Systems. Also on show will be the latest
iterations of the Vocia, Nexia and Tesira networked digital audio platforms. “ The ISE show is the key event for us in Europe. It is a great way for us to connect with customers

We ask: Why do you think ISE has seen such spectacular growth over its first 10 years?
With the growing adoption of Unified
Communi -
cations and the convergence of IT and AV, the show continues to grow in importance and relate worldwide. Kelly Perkins, marketing and communications manager, Vaddio
Because there was simply something missing, namely the integration between different disciplines, audio, video etc. Many people have told me we need to get audio back into AV! There seems to be a closed door in between A and V. We are in changing times but we are not fully there yet. Lars-Olof Janflod, marketing & PR director, Genelec
Because it offers a unique mix, bringing together all the products and technologies relevant for commercial and residential integrators. Its location is also great, central to Europe and good connections to the rest of the world. There is no other show like it!
Matt Nimmons, operations director, CEDIA Region 1
It offers the best
opportunity to meet with AV firms as well as distribution partners. Most
of the other EU shows we've gone to fail to so exactly capture the market slice that we want to reach. Rodger von Kries, vice president, Technomad
As the world has shrunk due to better communic - ations and the internet, the many disparate shows in each individual
I'll give all the credit to ISE’s management and marketing staff. After the first few stumbling years (the pre-Amsterdam era), they have managed to build the strongest AV show in the world, with the right focus on vertical markets and a very impressive education programme. The ISE Dailyis a fantastic read as well! Fredrik Svahnberg, marketing director, Dataton
ISE works superbly well on different levels for its stakeholders: its exhibitors, visitors and the trade bodies behind the show, CEDIA and InfoComm. It provides an unprecedented single-point access to a broad base of countries, fast-growing markets and new customers from Europe and beyond. Visitors can take a close look at all the key products and innovations in systems integration, meet with the major brands and build relationships. It’s also a great place for industry training and helps us spread the news about residential and commercial integration, as well as digital signage, all in one place. Steve Olszewski, vice president, Stealth Acoustics
To me the show’s growth isn't much of a surprise. ISE is highly supportive of a new gener -
ation of flexible integrators who tackle a wider variety of jobs than their highly focused predecessors. With so many integrators crossing over between residential and commercial applications, ISE has provided a destination for new revenue and the training to support it. Hybrid HD mics for conferencing applications will be on the Revolabs stand
and partners, network with thought-leaders and, of course, meet the media,” adds Harrison. Fohhn Audio is presenting its
Focus series of electronically steer- able line array systems, which includes the Linea Focus LFI-120- LFI-450 family of 1.2m to 4.5m loudspeakers and the Focus Mod- ular series, which comprises the FM/I-100 and FM/110 high-fre- quency modules and the FM/I-400 low-mid/full range module. The German manufacturer is also launching its Linea LX-220 high-performance hybrid line source loudspeaker system, which features two-way speaker technol- ogy based on the design of the company’s LX-100 and LX-150 loudspeakers. Fohhn says that Focus Modular
takes the concept of modular line array systems with real-time beam steering to new levels. The com- pact modules each contain three separate, specially developed DSP processors with dedicated func- tionality designed to produce opti- mum performance, better dynamics and greater precision than standard steerable systems. A focus of attention on the
Revolabs ISE stand are the com- pany’s Hybrid HD microphones and XLR adapter. Designed for conferencing installations requir- ing a powered audio solution, the Hybrid HD products are said to bring all the advantages of wired and wireless solutions to the con- ference table. Constantly powered and located around the conference table, the wired Hybrid micro- phones and XLR adapters take the guesswork out of microphone placement, resulting in optimised audio pick-up during meetings. For meetings where wireless oper- ation is required, the microphones can be removed from the power source and placed where required around the table. Sennheiser will be highlighting
its new LSP 500 Pro loudspeaker at ISE 2013. The wireless LSP 500 Pro speaker features user-friendly operation via an app and high
sound quality for voice and music. Not only does the wireless LSP 500 Pro eliminate the need for time-consuming laying of cables, Sennheiser also supplies an app that enables up to 20 loudspeakers to be remotely controlled at the same time. To do this, the speakers are con- nected to an external WLAN using the app. This makes it possible to control all of the LSP 500 Pros in operation via a mobile device (such as an iPad), including selecting var- ious application modes, control- ling the volume or adjusting the equaliser. LSP 500 Pro is compati- ble with microphones from Sennheiser's evolution wireless 100, 300 and 500 series. It can be con- nected to up to three separate receivers. A new weatherproof breakout Technomad’s PowerChiton
box for T
series of passively cooled, IP66-rated weatherproof amplifier modules is on display at ISE. The compact design and low profile of PowerChiton amplifier modules – available in four power levels up to 1,600W – enables sound contrac- tors to install the modules on light poles and other surfaces at any height for co-location with loud- speakers. The new PowerChiton break- out box enables local audio con- trol at user-friendly locations in the same NEMA-style protective
