Retail Lighting
As part of the exciting development of the soon to open
Trinity Leeds retail space, a beautiful domed roof lighting system has been developed to brighten the visits of the many expected late night shoppers.
March 2013.
In order to attract late night shoppers to the location throughout
the year, it was decided that an exciting roof light display would provide a perfect attraction by bringing dazzling colour to Leeds city centre’s skyline. A sweeping glass dome roof that dominates the new three storey shopping space is to be illuminated by 918 low energy LED lights from StudioTech UK Ltd. The display has recently been tested in order to get a feel for the capabilities of the lights and their 40 settings, which can be programmed to create different shapes and auroras for visitors. Andrew Dudley, Trinity Leeds Development Director, said: "Switching on the roof lights for the very first time and seeing the beaming spectrum of colours was magnificent. It lights the way for Trinity Leeds, which opens its doors on 21st March and is set to become the next generation of shopping centres, bringing leisure and lifestyle to the heart of the city." The impressive dome roof is the work of the Eden Project designers, SKM Anthony Hunts and is the symbol of Trinity Leeds, uniting the bustling streets of Briggate, Commercial Street and Albion Street. “By Christmas
2013, we predict that over 25 million shoppers will have walked through the doors of Trinity Leeds shopping centre and we hope to wow visitors with the sweeping dome roof, which creates a dramatic space for over 100 new shops and 20 new restaurants, cafe and bars," believes Dudley.
Lighting plays an essential role in bringing a little theatricality to the retail arena, and can be the key to attracting customer attention. Whether retailers use lighting to accentuate the appearance of products or to create a display that will attract visitors attention to a store, lighting plays an incredibly important role in the creation of an appealing retail environment.
