What new young and fresh talent that you’ve been following can we look out for right now? There are so many …SO MANY! [laughs]… So many fresh artists come out daily I can’t really think of any specific ones but the Italians are pretty cool in the tech house scene. There was this guy called Fabio Ferro and he’s been doing really cool stuff. There’s also another artists from Spain called Cuartero whom I’ve played a lot of his music and many more…

How did the festivals in Europe go this summer? Can you tell us an unusual and wacky story? I’ve played at a lot of festivals this summer. One of the big ones was the Awakenings festival in Amsterdam. I was surprised because the tent that I was playing was sponsored by Heineken and when I came into the booth I saw this case of beer with my name on it!! [laughs] And I thought “Oh my god! I have to take these back with me!” It was pretty cool.

That’s insane! Did you end up drinking them or did you keep them sealed? Well we swapped. Carl Cox drank my bottle and I drank his bottle and we kept the rest! [laughs]

Nicole, all of your followers not only go crazy for your music but just as much on that lion-esque bed of hair on your head!! Do you consider it your signature? The perfect crown only worn by the Queen of Techno? Oh my god [giggles]. Well it became my signature, but it was never intended to be. I mean obviously not a lot of people have this kind of hair, big and curly but I’m happy with that, why not [laughs].

My favorite is when the headphones go up from beneath you hair and you instantly look like you have a fan on your head!! Totally – You know why I really do that? Cause I don’t want the headphones to go on top of my head to mess up the hair! [laughs] So the best way to do it is to bring it from below! And people go crazy over this shit… and I’m like ok I’ll carry on with that… and really the only reason I do that is cause I don’t want to mess my hair!

If you could save the zombie apocalypse with music being your only weapon, how would you go about saving the word? Which DJ would be your super hero sidekick? Dayummm….[laughs] That’s a tough one girl! Hmm if I had to pick one record…what would it be? I guess I’ll have to say “Music is The Answer” by Danny Tenaglia!!! That would be the answer! And my super hero sidekick would definitely be Carl Cox for sure. Yeah he’s my hero… me and him would be dropping some techno bombs together! [laughs]

So those are all the questions on my end. Would you like to pass on a little message to your fans and followers from Canada? Totally! My message for them is that I will never forget the way they embrace me and I will never forget the love that I felt when I was with them. It was pretty magical and I hope to do it again very soon!

On October 22nd, Nicole Moudaber dropped her previously unreleased 2008 remix of the archetypal track “Musik Xpress” on Skint Entertainment now available exclusively on Beatport. The 20th Anniversary package serves as a fresh take on a classic 90s house track originally produced by X-press 2. Moudaber’s remix gives the new generation of electronic music fans a taste of the power of 90s house music by weaving into her signature soulful techno synths. A beat that is perfect for any late night on the dance floor. Once again Nicole Moudaber amazes us with yet another trick up her sleeve—the ability to interconnect the spirit of then and now.

When asked about the remix, Moudaber recollected, “I was just starting to produce, dabble and discover this world. I was approached by the label manager back then, I knew him from London and he played at my parties a few times. I delivered the mix, even got paid for it but it never saw the light, maybe because my name didn’t mean much back then. They heard it recently by mistake on a random hard drive they found at the Skint Office, and I’m very pleased it will finally get released.”
