Evan McIntyre OH CANADA!
2012 has been a defining year in global dance music culture. The sound that has come to be known by the catchphrase EDM has made a wholesale crossover into the mainstream, bringing a new generation of party people into a scene that has long been inhabited by tastemakers with their roots in the underground. The results of this year’s Top 100 DJs poll are a testament to this changing appetite, which sees big room electro producers taking over main stages across the world.
At the leading edge of this international house movement is a Canadian scene that is powered by world class DJs and producers, hard working promoters and dedicated, open-minded fans. Canadians have often been cited as some of the most musically educated crowds on the world circuit, and so it is no surprise that DJ Magazine has landed in Canada in the latest chapter of our global expansion.
We are here to party while we document this incredible time for Canadian dance music. So whether it’s in the main room, on the main stage, or at the after party – we will see you on the dance floor very soon. While we chose to reserve our introductory cover for Sir Armin, we look forward to our first Canadian cover star in our upcoming December edition.
