asterCardis to launch the first voucher-based version of its Master- Card rePower service in Europe, in partner- ship with CQR Payment Group, which will make changing cash into electronic money on a prepaid card, voucher or mobile device easier and more convenient for con- sumers. Kamran Hedjri, managing director of CQR Payment Group, commented: “The service is all about digitising money and re- ducing the reliance on cash which is costly in terms of time, materials, security and transporta- tion. A cashless society is one that is smarter, sim- pler and more secure for everyone.”

Prolexic protects EntroPay

D

istributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection service provider Prolexic has mitigated a high volume Layer 4 DDoS attack on EntroPay, the virtual credit card website owned and operated by Ixaris Sys- tems. EntroPay’s hardware mitigation ap- pliance from its ISP failed with an attack that had traffic volume exceeding the appli- ance’s limit of 100Mbps. Ixaris now uses Prolexic’s PLXrouted service to provide DDoS protection for the EntroPay website. With this service, DDoS attacks are detect- ed by monitoring on-premise equipment. In the event of an attack, the traffic-routing service is activated using Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) to on-ramp network traffic to Prolexic’s 500 Gbps cloud-based denial of service DDoS mitigation infrastructure.

AFFILIATES Smart move for affiliates

ollowing on from the launch of the very first Live Roulette Facebook Game, Smart Live Casino is now offering affiliates that have an active Facebook page with free branded entertainment that can be promoted to their own Facebookusers. Since all activity is tracked, Smart Gaming Group is also offer- ing affiliates a 25 per cent commission on virtual currency generated by the Facebook users re- ferred. Smart’s Kristal Camilleri

Murison said: “We hope that by providing innovative and unique cross channel mar- keting solutions to affiliates, we will con- tinue to establish ourselves as the pre-

nyxhas launched its FPB1 de- velopment plat- form. Based on Altera’s latest 28-nm high-perfor- mance Stratix V FPGA, it is partic- ularly suited for use in real-time financial applications. The board offers the latest PCI Express 3.0 and Ethernet 40G connec- tivity coupled with an outstanding array of ultra-low latency QDR II+ and high density DDR3-1600 memories within a standard ¾ length PCIe form factor. Enyx’s CTO Brice Vincent commented: “This alliance of high density DDR and low latency QDR memo- ries makes our development platform per- fectly adapted to ‘on-the-wire’ processing such as pre-trade risk checks, market data filtering or full hardware book building ap- plications.”

Free mobile check from Google Austria

I

n order for firms to check their website’s compatibility with the latest range of mobile devices, a new ini- tiative from Google Austriahttp://www.start-mobile.at/at/d/ has been set up to help them put their pages to the test. By inputting the webpage ad- dress and answering a few simple ques- tions the programme offers a ranking on how well suited to mobile applications the page is and what modification should be carried out to make it better. Klaus Müller from Google Austria admitted that the in- ternet wasn’t perfectly suited to the needs of mobile devices and modifications need- ed to be made which Google was hoping to promote with its backing of the new initia- tive.

machines show higher allure to fraudsters

i

ovation, the device reputation authority protecting online businesses from fraud and abuse, now tracks the online be-

haviour of more than a billion devices, and has noted that Linux devices suffer the highest percentage of fraudulent transac- tions. The company came to its findings by analysing fraudulent transactions as a per- centage of overall transactions from each mobile and fixed internet device it tracked from January to July 2012. Scott Waddell, vice president of technol- ogy at iovation, commented: “Interesting- ly, we found that 2.3 per cent of all transac- tions from Linux-based machines, 1.4 per cent of all transactions from Windows ma- chines and 1 per cent of all transactions from Macs were fraudulent. You’ll note that there were no mobile platforms in the top three; we believe this is because fraud- sters prefer operating systems that make it easier to automate their schemes.” Iovation CEO Greg Pierson added: “Hav- ing identified over a billion unique internet- connected devices is a phenomenal mile- stone which really highlights the critical mass we’ve reached with our global device reputation service. “Our ability to re-identify unique devices as the same ones regardless of which on- line business they touch is highly valuable. Understanding how all of those devices and transactions are associated, and com- bining that with our customer-provided real-time fraud experience, is even more exciting. These capabilities are the key to providing our customers with an invaluable level of insight into anonymous consumer behaviour, and allows us to identify risk that no other service can spot.”
