B
etting exchange Matchbookhas called on sports betting opera- tors to widen their options by using the Matchbook Risk Man-
agement (MRM) system.
Rather than using the dominant ex- change in the industry, which Matchbet sug- gests is more focused on data licence fees and developing its fixed-odds offering, Matchbet is promoting itself as the ‘best sports hedging service’ with the lowest commission rates. Andrew Pantling, chief executive of Matchbook, explained: “Unlike a traditional tele-bet service, the Matchbook Risk Man- agement works predominately via Skype and MSN. The bookmaker provides the se- lection take and price for the bet wanted. With anonymity guaranteed the bet is of- fered to an extensive network of layers. With a response and confirmed bet/hedge usual- ly made within 60 seconds, the speed of
service is second to none. Access to the service is available 24/7 and if a bet is not ac- cepted by our network of layers, then MRM assumes the risk up to a pre-agreed guaran- tee. In short, the operator will always be able to hedge.”
This ability to hedge, matched by the low- est commission rate in the business of 1 per cent, compared to an industry average of 3 per cent, has been attracting punters and bookmakers. The exchange has been so liq- uid it has been able to guarantee bookmak- ers the ability to hedge £100,000 on a three cent spread for Premiership football. Pantling added: “These services and fea-
tures have enabled Matchbook to continue its strong growth as its VIPs are able to get even bigger stakes and trading directors are happy as they don’t have to report massive swings in liability or being caught offside on a trade and Matchbook continues to generate more revenue and service happy clients.”
