BETTING PROMOTION
Quality more important than quantity
Richard Hogg, CEO at Betting Promotion, reveals what his company will be offering visitors to Barcelona this month.
W
hat will you be promoting at EiG?
We will be at EiG to further promote our B2B offering in the form of our BetPower and BetPush products and to support and enhance our current position in the market place. It is important for our potential clients to know that we are here and how we can assist them. Our offer is unique in many ways and we feel it is important peo- ple know that there is an alternative to the existing solutions more commonly known in the market.
Since we are also seeing a number of dif- ferent betting models, such as exchanges and pool based products, coming to mar- ket in various formats, we are also there to advise that we can help with market mak-
ing and liquidity provision with these types of products.
You’ve got some interesting plans for mobile - can you share them?
Betting Promotion has been working exten- sively with BetPump. Betpump is a mobile start-up based out of Malta with offices in Las Vegas, New York, Palo Alto and Stock- holm. With the mobile revolution and inno- vations like Betpump, punters can place wagers on previously unavailable markets while sitting on their sofa at home, from their favourite pub, or right inside the stadi- um. Watching sporting events will never be the same. Turn on your TV, sit back in your recliner, pull out your mobile device, and welcome in Live Sports Betting 2.0.
Is Live Betting still a major growth driver or is it showing signs of settling down? Live betting is still a growing part of the business for us in terms of revenue we are seeing through our systems. That said, we are concentrating on quality rather than quantity. There is still a bit of a myth around the numbers of markets you offer. Some of the larger companies may want to support this but for our clients we find that supplying them with a quality service on the markets which the end users actually bet on is resulting in a better net win for the operator. We are attracting more business from operators in emerging markets who are not as familiar with this form of betting which negates any downside from mature markets. Adding mobile and live together,
however, is the real jewel in the crown.
At what kind of operator is your BetPush product aimed?
BetPush is preferred by existing opera- tors who need assistance with their cur- rent offering, or those start-ups with larg- er budgets anticipating a high turnover quite quickly. Some of the existing opera- tors for example may not wish to monitor some of the smaller markets, or live bet- ting as a whole. Others may not have the skills set in house to operate markets such as handball or basketball so we are able to take care of those. Others simply want to reduce headcount and prefer to outsource some of the more labour inten- sive markets.
